Abstract: The past few years have seen numerous 6G initiatives. The ITU-R working party 5D initiatives on future technology trends and the IMT Vision for 2030 and beyond are of particular interest in terms of developing a globally unified 6G standard. With the recently agreed IMT 2030 framework, a community-wide consensus is formed for a unified 6G vision and usage scenarios.This talk will begin with an overview of potential 6G solutions, highlighting aspects such as developing a global standardization perspective, KPIs, and capabilities. In our view, 6G will go beyond communication; it will harness AI as a service, support integrated sensing and integrated non-terrestrial networks in addition to providing global connectivity and enhanced vertical industry support. Based on this high-level vision, we will discuss the associated enabling technologies supporting these requirements and capabilities. Some of the potential technologies are more mature than others. For the relatively mature technologies, initial evaluations including simulation results and even testbeds will be presented, with a focus on the associated challenges and future research directions.
Bio: Dr. Peiying Zhu, Senior Vice President of Wireless Research, is a Huawei Fellow, IEEE Fellow and Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering. She is currently leading 6G wireless research and standardization in Huawei. The focus of her research is advanced radio access technologies. She is actively involved in 3GPP and IEEE 802 standards development. Prior to joining Huawei in 2009, Peiying was a Nortel Fellow and Director of Advanced Wireless Access Technology in the Nortel Wireless Technology Lab.

Abstract:
Connectivity and telecom systems play a central role to achieve sustainability goals. In its Vision 2030 SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) the United Nations has proclaimed access to the Internet as a basic human right and has said that these goals cannot be achieved without affordable access to the Internet by everyone on this planet for the betterment of humanity.
The keynote will cover some of the key questions: How can standards benefit the environment, society and economy? How shall we rethink innovation, from design to deployment, to include sustainability aspects? And what is the role of policy, regulatory frameworks and consumers in this equation for net positive social and environmental impact?
Bio: Dr. Clara Neppel is the Senior Director European Business Operations at the IEEE Technology Centre GmbH in Vienna, where she is responsible for IEEE's activities and presence in Europe. IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich and a master’s degree from the University of Strasbourg, in Intellectual Property Law and Management.
Dr. Neppel is also an Independent Director of the Supervisory Board of European Institute of Technology Digital, Co-Chair of the Advisory Board in the DAAD program "Konrad Zuse Schools of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence", Member of the Scientific-Industrial Advisory Board of Research Studios Austria FSG Strategy Board, and of the Independent Advisory Board of the UK RI Centre for Doctoral Training in Accountable, Responsible and Transparent AI.
Keynote 3: “NGMN’s path to 6G”

Abstract: This presentation delves into NGMN's pivotal role in propelling the Mobile Industry towards the next generation of networks. It places particular emphasis on NGMN's three strategic topics, building upon each other:
1. Mastering Disaggregated Networks/E2E Operating Disaggregated Networks: Operators must undergo significant transformations to efficiently operate disaggregated networks. This transformation necessitates collaboration and support throughout the entire value chain.
2. Green Future Networks: Sustainability is at the forefront of our journey to the next generation of mobile networks. Contributing to significant improvements of Network Energy Efficiency, coordinating metering standards, addressing circular economy requirements, and developing requirements for general measures to reduce the industry's carbon emissions is a priority today and on our way to 6G.
3. 6G: Building upon the flexible architecture introduced with 5G, the work on 6G prioritises amongst other: network energy efficiency, network simplification, and the imperative to respond to market demand with innovative use cases, clearly differentiating from use cases delivered by the fully implemented 5G. Within this context, we will also discuss NGMN's recent publication, "6G Position Statement: An Operator View", shedding light on critical perspectives and insights it offers.
Bio: Dr. Anita Doehler has extensive international experience in various business areas including senior management positions with mobile network operators, vendors and consulting firms. From 2016 until 2020, she held senior management positions at Accenture. Prior, she worked at Vodafone Group for 16 years, before at E-Plus and Philips, among others. Anita holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Telecommunication Engineering as well as an Executive MBA degree. Furthermore, she is a Systemic Business Coach.
Anita is passionate about driving technology innovation for the benefit of humans and societies and supporting world’s leading operators, vendors and research institutes. Since July 2020 she has been the CEO of the Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance (NGMN).
